21 April 2021 (replacing the statement from 16 March 2020)
With regard to the current epidemiological situation, Pojišťovna VZP, a.s., (hereinafter referred to as ‘PVZP’) is hereby issuing a statement for clients of PVZP – foreigners who have signed up for health insurance for foreigners.
With this statement, we want to assure clients with any health insurance product for foreigners (comprehensive or basic) that PVZP will cover acute health care provided in connection with Covid-19, including potential hospitalisation, with any of the listed health insurance products for foreigners.
If recommended by a doctor or hygiene station, PCR tests for Covid-19 will also be covered. Comprehensive health insurance also covers non-acute health care associated with this illness within the scope of the insurance conditions.
Antigen tests, which are only free of charge for those insured under public health insurance, will not be covered by health insurance for foreigners. Clients can only take these tests as self-payers. If they have a valid insurance contract for comprehensive health insurance with the Above-Standard limit, then they can apply for reimbursement of antigen tests up to this limit.
We are monitoring the situation regarding vaccination. For now, only those insured under public health insurance can register. When it is possible for our clients to register, PVZP will be ready to react.
Health insurance for foreigners is also suitable for Czech citizens who have been working abroad for a long time, were forced to return to the Czech Republic due to the Covid-19 pandemic and are not covered by the public health insurance system.
We believe that the situation will improve soon and we’ll get through it together!
