Insurance in case of bankruptcy of a travel agency

Travel agencies

This insurance protects the customers of travel agencies in situations when they are unable to meet their obligations due to insolvency.

Pursuant to Act no. 159/1999 Coll., on certain conditions of business activities in the field of tourism, this insurance is mandatory for all travel agencies.

What does the insurance cover?

This insurance protects clients when an insolvent travel agency:

  • Does not return the deposit paid or the price of a package tour to the client, including the price paid for a package tour voucher, if the package tour is not provided
  • Does not return the difference between the paid price of the package tour and the price of the provided package tour to the client if only part of the package tour is provided
  • Does not return all payments received from the client if combined travel services were arranged (hereafter referred to as CTS)
  • Does not arrange repatriation for the client
