Information of Pojišťovna VZP, a.s. on insurance of foreigners in connection with the amendment to Act No. 326/1999 Coll., on Residence of Foreigners in the Czech Republic

The amendment to the Act brings changes concerning foreigners´ comprehensive medical insurance. Following this amendment, PVZP made some adjustments to the products of foreigners´ comprehensive medical insurance so that they comply with the newly valid legislation.

The most important changes in foreigners´ insurance products from PVZP

  1. There are no changes in the scope of insurance for Foreigners´ Comprehensive Medical Insurance and the insurance terms and conditions do not change.
  2. For Foreigners´ Comprehensive Medical Insurance Plus (KZPC PLUS) product, the insurance indemnity limit for one insured event is increased from CZK 3,000,000 to CZK 10,000,000 (EUR 400,000).
  3. For Foreigners´ Comprehensive Medical Insurance Exclusive (KZPC EXCLUSIVE) product, the insurance indemnity limit for one insured event is also increased from CZK 3,000,000 to CZK 10,000,000 (EUR 400,000). Other limit options have been cancelled. The limit for postnatal care of a newborn baby is also increased to CZK 1,000,000. Medical expenses insurance in the Schengen area is always included in the price (until now it was only valid for students). This product also covers illnesses that the client had before taking out insurance and is free of medical exclusions.
  4. For insurance policies arranged with a lower insurance indemnity limit (arranged before the amendment) , the limit is increased by law to CZK 10,000,000 (EUR 400,000) after 3 months from the effective date of the amendment and clients do not have to take any action.
  5. The insurance company will not use the legal possibility to increase premiums for these contracts.

  6. The wording of the amendment to the Act gives the policyholder the opportunity to terminate the insurance within three months, but when using this option, he/she is not entitled to a refund of the paid one-off insurance under this Act.

PVZP continuously strives to provide foreigners in the Czech Republic with the maximum possible level of medical care, but also to ensure that Czech healthcare represents a comfortable and safe environment for foreigners.
